The art and science of planning, designing, constructing buildings and (some) nonbuilding structures.

- Roof style
- Chimney style
- Form of structure

- method of construction
- Exterior building materials

Characteristics Features of Style:
An architectural style is defined as a set of structural design that makes one building structure different from others.

✪  Victorian Style
- Painted iron railings.
- Two to three stories.
- Churchlike rooftop finials.
- Steeply pitched roofs.
- Plain or colorfully painted brick.
- Sliding sash and  bay windows.
- Decorated triangular sloping over door and window.
Example: 
☞︎︎︎ The Palace of Westminster (1870),
☞︎︎︎ The Brooklyn Bridge (1883),
☞︎︎︎ The Carson Mansion in Eureka (1884).

✪  Islamic Style
- Interior is more focused than exterior.
- Use of decorated Arabic calligraphy.
- Domes, Minarets or towers.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ The early Abbasid buildings,
☞︎︎︎ The central-dome mosques of Anatolia,
☞︎︎︎ The Mosque Cathedral of Córdoba, Spain.
 
✪  Romanesque style
- Large towers.
- Symmetrical structure.
- Rounded shapes with arches and rows.
- Moldings decorated.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ The Emperor Charlemagne's Palatine Chapel, Aachen, Germany (AD 800),
☞︎︎︎ Basilica of San Vitale in Europe (Dark Ages).

✪  Baroque style
- Theatrical style.
- Highly decorative.
- Vividly painted ceilings.
- Light, shadow and dramatic intensity.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ The St. Charles Church,
☞︎︎︎ Schönbrunn Palace,
☞︎︎︎ Belvedere Palace,
☞︎︎︎ The Old Vienna City Hall.

✪  Tudor style
- Steepy piched roofs.
- Roofs made of straw, rushes and sedge.
- Diamond shaped glass windows.
- Chimneys built from bricks or stones.
- Two or three stories.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ The tomb of Henry7 (Westminster, Abbey),
☞︎︎︎ Hampton Court,
☞︎︎︎ Hardwick Hall.

✪  Neo- Classical
- Walls are blank.
- Huge building.
- Surfaces are flat.
- Rectangular windows.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ The White House in Washington D.C,
☞︎︎︎ Karl Friedrich Schinkel's Old Museum (Berlin),
☞︎︎︎ Sir John Soane's Bank of England (London).

✪  Modernist
- Concrete and steel are used.
- Pattern of Sun is kept in mind to utilize energy.
Mostly, modernism can be found in many of the newer buildings.
Example:
☞︎︎︎ Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater,
☞︎︎︎ Philip Johnson's Glass House.
